Make Friends. Make Sandwiches. Make a Difference.
The Sandwich Club, led by Rita-Clare LeBlanc, is the newest outreach program supported by the Friends of St. Margaret. “We created the Sandwich Club to give youth a chance to make a difference for those less fortunate in our community,” says Rita-Clare. “I think sometimes people tend to underestimate the true value children have and we wanted to offer them an opportunity to get involved and give back.” It seems that the positive, ripple effect of this new club is endless. The motto of the Sandwich Club is Make Friends – Make Sandwiches – Make a Difference.
The Sandwich Club brings together youth grades 4 -12 and meets once a month in the St.Margaret of Scotland church hall to make sandwiches for those experiencing homelessness. Youth participate from over 15 different schools in HRM. They may be from different backgrounds, but they all have one thing in common they want to come together to make a difference. The tagline says it all.
